In addition to her work with the UNHCR, Jolie has supported various philanthropic causes over the years. In 2003, she founded the Maddox Jolie-Pitt Foundation, which supports humanitarian projects around the world. The foundation has provided funding for projects like the construction of schools, hospitals, and water wells in countries like Cambodia, Ethiopia, and Kenya.
In 2001, Jolie was appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Her work with the UNHCR took her to various refugee camps around the world, including those in Sierra Leone, Tanzania, and Pakistan. She has also worked with other organizations, such as the Red Cross and the World Food Programme.
Jolie's early life was marked by her parents' divorce and her mother's struggles with depression. Her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, was a French-Canadian actress and model who instilled in Jolie a strong sense of social responsibility. Jolie's father, Jonny Lee Miller, was an American actor who struggled with addiction.
Jolie has also been a vocal advocate for women's rights and empowerment. In 2013, she was named one of the most influential people in the world by Time magazine, in recognition of her humanitarian work and her advocacy for women's rights.
Jolie began her acting career at a young age, appearing in films like "Without Evidence" (1995) and "Playing God" (1997). Her breakthrough role came in 1999 with the film "Girl, Interrupted," for which she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
Shaykhi Academy was launched by a group of highly qualified Quran Teacher in 2019 to serve those Muslims who are far away from Islamic countries by relating them to the Quran which would help them nurture their faith while in the comfort of their homes.
